Flavors For Your Blog Rush Widget

Blog Rush will soon introduce flavors on their widget.

MORE NEWS…

It seems that some people are trying to call BlogRush a “pyramid scheme” or stating “there’s just no way the future impressions will ever be able to be served based on the promises of what referrals will bring. The math is impossible like other schemes of this kind.”

Anyone that is saying this doesn’t understand how BlogRush works…

EVERY SINGLE IMPRESSION GETS REWARDED FOR *THAT* IMPRESSION AS IT HAPPENS. There is no “promise” of future rewards based on referral activity today. Each and every impression of the widget (and impression of the 5 headlines per widget) is rewarded AS IT HAPPENS. And when all the math is said and done, it also leaves 1 out of every 10 headline spaces left-over for BlogRush to use to monetize the service. So apparently some people think it’s all based on false promises that the network will eventually “catch up” and pay rewards in the future. This just isn’t the case. Every single impression that occurs is calculated and rewarded to the generations ‘above’ — that’s how the math has to work.

We’re working hard to move to the 100% Manual Review Process as quickly as possible, and other improvements.

As I’ve now said many times, our SOLE FOCUS is helping our members generate quality, targeted traffic. So we’re hard at work to make that happen.

Make Your Site Easy for Your Visitors to Navigate

Site Navigation is a very important consideration of your website design. Your site should be designed so that the newest newbie can thread through your site without getting lost. It is the road map of your site so that your reader knows how to effectively navigate through it.

I had a good laugh the other day while researching this topic when I read that websites should be designed so even your grandmother or grandfather can find their way through it. I laughed since I am a grandfather which indicates that the site must be REALLY easy to navigate. – LOL.

What caused me to focus on this subject came from working on a particular website. Like most websites, it started with only a few pages and was easy to navigate. And like most websites, it grew and became more complex which complicated the site navigation.

The original site navigation pattern was a circular pattern where the reader would follow the links from one page to the next until he/she arrived back at the starting page. This works fine as long as there is never a break. However, we all know that during surfing, you have to get up and tend to something or you go off on a tangent to another page. When you return, it is sometimes difficult to determine exactly where you were. If the reader has to follow several page links back to the continuation point, frustration sets in and "click" the reader is gone.

To solve this site navigation problem, a navigation bar was added to the pages on the website.

A navigation bar ("nav bar"), is the basic tool for site navigation. Navigation bars are usually some form of java script. They are text, buttons, or boxes usually placed on the top or left side of every page. This allows the reader to quickly link to the main pages of the site. A feature that is usually incorporated in the nav bar is the nav bar entry for the current page is indicated by a change of color or appearance to show where you are currently located in the site.

Some HTML editors will build your navigation bar for you. When you build a page, you specify if you want the page included on the nav bar and if you want a nav bar on the page.

The best web host builds your nav bar for you. When you create a web page, you are given options if you want the page listed in the nav bar and if so, what the text on the nav bar should say.

As an aside … if you have a landing page on your site where you want the reader to take only one action (click to buy or click to subscribe), do not put any external links or a nav bar on that page. You do not want to give the reader a means of escape except to close the window.

If you include the nav bar on each content page, it gives the reader a uniform way to get from the current page to any other main page with one click which is desirable. A theory of site navigation says a reader should be no more than two clicks from any other page.

In summary, always consider how your reader will navigate your site. If navigation is easy, your reader will dig deeper and deeper into your site. If navigation is confusing or difficult, your reader will click away from your site and will not return. Work to make that navigation easy and keep your readers happy. Especially for grandmothers and grandfathers!

Google's Local Business Center a Serious Threat to Existing Online Yellow Pages Directories

If you click on the "Business Solutions" link on Google's homepage, you'll find information about the various revenue generating programs, advertising opportunities and productivity tools that Google offers to the general public. You will also find two separate text links to Google's Local Business Center displayed under the headings "Get listed on Google Maps" and "Put your information on Google".

And although Google's Local Business Center isn't billed as an online yellow pages directory, that's exactly what it is. Google now allows local business owners to add their business name, address, phone number, email address, website URL and business description to its business database. This information is then displayed, at no charge, on Google Maps, and more recently, Google's web search results.

As you may or may not have noticed, when you enter a business name, city and state into Google's web search form, the first thing displayed on the results page is a map with business listings from Google's database and links to more information. If you enter a keyword, along with a city and state, the first thing that appears in the results is a link entitled, "Local business results".

This free service could spell big trouble for competitors in the online yellow pages industry. Google's Local Business Center offers all of the business information that conventional Internet yellow pages sites do, and then some. In addition to business descriptions, hours of operation, online coupons, photos, maps, driving directions, and even business reviews, Google offers Internet users something that other online yellow pages can't – the convenience of searching for both yellow pages and web search results from a single form.

Add to that, the fact that Google's business data will likely be more complete, more trustworthy and more up-to-date than its competitors because it's published by the business owners themselves, and you've got a recipe for complete dominance of the Internet yellow pages industry. Current industry leaders like YellowPages.com, SuperPages and Switchboard will have to adapt quickly to their new competitor, or we may soon be closing the book on their online yellow pages directories.

Creating An Effective ABOUT ME Page For Your eBook Business On eBay

Just skip all the stuff and start listing your products, that's probably the advice most eBay experts would give you, but not me. The most important aspect of your internet eBay business when selling eBooks is your overall account appearance. Think about how many more sales you get as a PowerSeller, or even just a regular member with fifty plus positive feedback. The amount that trust plays in customers making a purchase cannot be underestimated. Therefore it is important to build an eBay account that gives every potential customers as much of a chance to get to know you as possible. The about me page is a easy way to make this happen, and best of all, is free for your to use.

Since you are selling eBooks on eBay the about me page should be as appropriate towards your niche as possible. This means you don't want to just talk about your favorite kind of food, or your pet dog, but about your expertise in selling electronic publications such as eBooks. The more eBooks you sell on eBay the more users that will potentially be able to view your about me page. This is the only page on your visible eBay profile that will allow for you to list a website link. This is crucial to help boost business for free. If you have a website, make sure to include it in the about me page. If you don't yet have a website, you should at least build a small one to cultivate email address, and get customer feedback, once this is built, make sure the link gets put on your about me page on eBay.

The other thing that the about me page is good for is promoting customer loyalty. Make sure to further your brand by telling customers your vision, and promise for their eBook needs. Talk about how you want to sell them a eBook every week that will help them with various parts of their life. Give them an idea of what type of discounts frequent customers can achieve, and where to sign up for such discounts. The more details you give your customers on the about me page the better off you will be when it comes to long term eBook sales on eBay.

Lastly make sure to put all relevant contact information on your about me page. This is as important as any other element on the page. If you feel comfortable enough, feel free to leave your home phone number, and personal email address. This information will help customers get in touch with you when they are ready to make a purchase. Once the about me page is setup, watch as sales start to increase on your eBook sales on eBay.

    You Don't Need Inspiration!

    Or do you?

Writers write. You shouldn't wait around for inspiration to come. But sometimes, there are days you can't get anything written down. Or you're at a loss for words. You can't think of anything to write. You don't have any idea what to write about.

And then you end up believing you're having writer's block.

You end up believing it too much, you stop writing altogether. You might even think of yourself as not a real writer.

And all because of what? You think your muse deserted you? You think you have writer's block?

Think again! You don't need inspiration to write! What you do need are prompts to help get your writer's mind working and your hands writing or typing.

These prompts are your beginnings; the glimmer; the little sparks that you can shape and fashion into stories, articles, essays and features.

You don't need inspiration. All you need is an idea.

And here are a dozen seeds you can try out for yourself:

    1. The first typewriter was patented on July 23, 1829. Interview some of the writers in your group and find out how they write. You can develop this into a light-hearted articles about writers.

    2. Many fictional characters are not fictional at all. Write about one real person who has been fictionalized.

    3. Electricity is a recent discovery. Think of 10 things to do when there's no power.

    4. Pirates no longer just refer to the highwaymen of the seas. There are different breeds of pirates today. Write about today's pirates and what they're pirating.

    5. Many words in the English language come from the names of people -- such as mesmerize (from Mesmer, a hypnotist). Find out more words from people's names and write the story behind the words.

    6. The US Declaration of Independence begins with this line: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..." Write you own Declaration of Independence by using the same line as your starting point.

    7. How do you start a fan club? Write a how-to on organizing a fan club for a favorite author, singer, actor or sports figure.

    8. How do planets die?

    9. Expound or dispute this: "Where science ends, religion begins."

    10. Take a look at your bookshelf. Pick one book and write a review of it.

    11. How is privacy invaded on the Internet?

    12. Write an article on how to choose a pet. Target your piece for kids aged 7-10

Have A Solution For A Problem

After you have discovered who your niche market is, you need to examine them to find out what products or services they are looking for. It's best to discover people's wants and then provide it, instead of creating a product and then trying to locate a market.

Visit some chat rooms where people from your niche market are likely to hang out. Sign up for some email lists they are likely to get. Analyze any information you find and try to locate a common problem that niche market has.

Once you discover a common problem, develop a solution. This is the easiest way to find an obvious void in the marketplace and fill it. This will help ensure you have an eager market for your service or product.

Remember, people are not online for a hard sell, but rather they are looking for information, things that will make their lives easier and for solutions to their problems. They will keep returning to you, if you solve their problem by giving them the exact solutions they need.

Remember, when you have a home business or any business, do not sell them, help them!

When you create a solution to a common problem shared by a niche market, you make your online business a valuable resource. This is the way to position the product or service you plan to sell online when you are ready to become an home business entrepreneur!

And Remember: Benefits, Not Features Are What You Need To Concentrate On

You will never earn a single penny with you home business unless you convince your prospects that they need your service or product and can afford it no matter how great a product or service you have.

You must put the focus on how your service or product will BENEFIT the customer. They need to know how it will solve their problems and make their lives easier. Do this and you online business will prosper.

The features of whatever you are selling have to be turned into compelling benefits. I learned this back in the 1980's from a guy named Wade Cook who wrote How To Build A Real Estate Money Machine. He would buy houses on contract and turn around and sell them on contract thereby generating a nice monthly income. But when selling his houses, he always strived to sell the benefits like, it's close to the school or near shopping areas, etc. You MUST do the same with your product or service.

Put simply, a feature is a simple fact about your product, but a benefit explains what advantages your customers will actually derive from using the product. You have to paint a picture for them.

Benefits are not "quality and service" or "cheapest". They are answers to "why should I keep reading?" or "what's in it for me?" or "why should I order?"

Every feature of your product offers at least a couple of benefits. You must figure out what they are. If you cannot come up with any, the talk to some of your customers or potential customers. Ask what they like about your product and how has it benefited them.
